It must be a dream

It must be a dream

In 1991, all the houses on First Street  vanished and all that remained were cement slabs, plumbing fixtures, and electrical wires from the street. Every day the police would bring in bus loads of people who the society at large deemed as unfit. They would place these people on the cement slabs where there used to be a house.  The men and women were paired off and electrical wires on top of their heads and another in their butts.

The police would then allow the waiting crowd to see the show. The  hypocrites and pretty people did not believe these poor people were  being harmed, since the subjects of this madness were not human.

They forced the pairs to perform various acts. If they did not continue  after a jolt of electricity, they would receive a tiny cut from a sharp blade. After several jolts, they would rub salt into the wounds.

Doc found this street by accident. He had taken a shortcut on his way home and he heard his name  called.  He thought he was losing his mind until he noticed the sound was coming from a house that was near a bunch of apple trees. He walked towards the house thinking that someone needed help. When he was near the house, it lit up in a dim green haze and began calling his name and commanding him to come inside. Going inside or even remaining in the area was not an option. Doc turned away and ran and when he broke out of the line of trees, he found himself on First Street.

He had no desire to stay around the people who approved of this insanity and began walking  towards his home. As he was walking, a girl walked up to him and asked where he was going. He replied he was on his way home. She told him her name was Sundial and suggested that he go with her to drink some wine and smoke some herbs instead. Doc found this suggestion inviting and agreed. They walked to a nearby field, talking along the way about what was happening on First Street. They sat down in the field and drank MD 20/20 wine and gave each other shotguns.

She had run away from home because her parents made her go to school and would not give her everything she wanted. Doc heard this and the screws turned in his suspect mind. Without warning, she leaned forward and kissed Doc. When she stopped, he looked at her and could not believe his eyes. She had  turned into someone different. Doc kept his cool and did not let on that anything had changed. His time living on the street and the jungles of Vietnam gave him that ability. Maybe this is some type of test, he wondered She looked at Doc with those jet-black  eyes and said that since he had tricked her into getting high, he must father a child with her. Doc was planning his departure as she spoke. Doc told her he had to go home and get some blue pills, or he would father nothing. He told her to wait and that he would return shortly. Doc had no intention of returning.

Doc walked down the street and turned the corner to the street he lived on. Soon as he turned the corner, he stopped dead in his tracks. They had covered the houses in aluminum foil. Even the dog houses. He spotted some people standing around and went over to ask what was going on. They turned around with wild looks in their eyes and began chanting “Bobo Jin Bobo Jin”. Doc back away and started walking the other way. He thought for a second that Sundial must have put something in the weed, but no, weed wouldn’t do this. Further down the street, he saw a girl that he knew and thought that maybe she could tell him what was happening. As he got closer, he noticed she was wearing a sheet. Doc thought little of it because some strange people living in the area. As Doc approach her, she took off the sheet, revealing her naked body, and she began chanting “Bobo Jin Bobo Jin”. Doc said screw this and ran across the street into a vacant office building.

As soon as Doc entered the office building, he  knows he had made a mistake. He was in a strange place where monsters and demons were preparing to go to work.  Their employment was scaring the shit out of people. They looked at Doc kind of strange, so he pretended he was getting ready for work. One monster walked over and asked Doc what type of work did he do. He looked at the beast and replied, “I scare monsters.”
